A fatal crash happened on Thursday afternoon in western Colorado. The Colorado State Patrol responded to a report of a two vehicle crash involving a semi and a Subaru Outback. According to Colorado State Patrol, the driver of the Subaru is an 81-year-old female and the driver of the semi is a 30-year-old male, both from Craig. The two passengers were an 85-year-old male and a 57-year-old female. The two passengers from the Subaru were pronounced dead on scene. The driver of the Subaru was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries while the semi driver sustained no injuries. The Subaru was westbound while the semi was eastbound on Highway 40 near milepost 81. The Subaru attempted to make a left turn into a private driveway. The semi collided its front with the Subaru’s side. Both vehicles traveled off the right side of the road. Traffic was eventually able to continue on Highway 40 with traffic alternating in the westbound lane until late in the evening. Law enforcement remained on the scene investigating the accident.
