A Uintah County family left their home and called 9-1-1 after a man entered their residence, got in the tub, and wouldn’t leave last week. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, the homeowner woke up to the sound of someone walking up the stairs in the home followed by the sound of running water coming from the upstairs master bathroom. The homeowner entered the bathroom and found a man undressed and lying in the bath. When asked what he was doing, the man told the homeowner to leave him alone. The family left the home and called 9-1-1. Officers responded and found the man still in the bathtub. He refused multiple orders to get out of the tub and then physically resisted arrest, claiming he had permission to be in the home. 50-year-old George William Merrell was arrested and has been charged with 2nd Degree Felony Burglary of a Dwelling and Misdemeanor Lewdness and Interfering with a Peace Officer. He is being held on no bond as Merrell has been arrested multiple times this month, including for Trespassing and Violation of a Protective Order.
