Local agencies are remembering a fallen officer on the anniversary of his passing. On July 30th, 1994 Utah Highway Patrol officer Sergeant Doyle R. Thorne lost his life serving the community. He was the sole occupant of a UHP helicopter that was dispatched to find a small child lost in Duchesne County’s Indian Canyon. The search concluded with the child found safely but Sgt. Thorne experienced some mechanical trouble and crashed near Strawberry Peak in Wasatch County. His body was found in the wreckage. The 52 year old sergeant was a 24 year veteran of the UHP. The Uintah Basin remembers his sacrifice and Evans Family Media wishes to send our deep felt appreciation to his family.
