A global nonprofit organization whose only goal is to help visually impaired children is making a stop in Vernal. The EyeCare4Kids organization is celebrating its 20th year of service and has helped nearly 400,000 children around the world with professional eye exams and new prescription glasses at little to no cost. The visit to Vernal is sponsored by the Mark C. and Deborah H. Bingham Foundation. Mr. and Mrs. Bingham are both originally from Vernal and now reside in Provo. Their organization focuses on advancing higher education opportunities to the average person and teaming up with EyeCare4Kids is a unique way to do just that. The Vernal Lions Club and Marathon Petroleum are also donating to and sponsoring the mobile clinic’s visit to Vernal. “We believe that it is a human rights’ issue for children to have clear vision to learn, grow in confidence and self-love,” shares Joseph Carbone, EyeCare4KidsTM Founder & President. “Many children do not even know they have a vision problem that is affecting their ability to concentrate and engage with their environment until it is recognized by a teacher, school nurse or eyecare professional.” The SEE-MORE Mobile Vision Clinic will be in Vernal on Friday, May 21st between 9am and 3pm at the TriCounty Health Department’s Vernal location.
