The Utah Department of Transportation is reminding travelers to plan ahead and be patient with delays as work continues on Highway 40. The pavement preservation project is resurfacing about 10 miles of Highway 40 in Uintah County between the turn-off to SR-88 and into Vernal at about 1500 South. Last week, crews worked on asphalt paving and installing striping paint and rumble strips. This week crews are scheduled to place the chip seal surface. During this portion of the project, the work zone speed limit will be reduced to 40 miles per hour and motorists may encounter loose gravel on the road surface. UDOT asks travelers to please note that moderate to severe travel delays are expected, including during the morning and late afternoon daily commute times so please plan your travel accordingly.
