Excitement is growing on plans for a new sports complex in Roosevelt City. “We have received a loan/grant package for the entire project from the Community Impact Board, most of which is a very low interest bearing loan,” shares Roosevelt City PIO Sunshine Bellon. “The City Council has decided to move forward with the project since it stands to be such a great benefit to our citizens and asset to the community at large, but we are still in the process of seeking additional funding contributions to offset the City’s financial burden.” The new sports complex will be located at Constitution Park inside the open area of the walking path. It will add 16 acres to Constitution Park which is currently 35 acres. Plans for the sports complex include 4 new baseball/softball fields for both youth and adults, new added green lawn space for youth soccer fields, and a new multi-use cement surface for pickleball and an ice-skating rink.
