32nd Annual .22 Josie Shoot-Vernal
About this event
The DWR is hosting the 32nd Annual .22 Josie Shoot in Vernal, Utah. This event is designed to give women a supportive, encouraging and comfortable atmosphere where they can learn and improve their shooting skills while competing for prizes. There are a few changes to this year's event, but we anticipate a great turnout. The competition time is slated for 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Buckskin Hills Shooting Complex. Please bring your own lawn chair for seating during the event. For tiebreakers, a shoot off will occur at 11:15 a.m., followed by the awards ceremony at 1 p.m. at the Uintah Conference Center. The registration fee for this year's event is FREE for all attendees. There will also be a door prize swap this year. You will need to bring a $10 prize per participant to swap with the other participants at the awards ceremony.
Shooters will provide their own ammunition and a standard .22 caliber rifle - no magnum, target rifles, or handguns allowed. The age classes are: Juniors (11-17); Seniors (18-49); and Vintage (50+). All shooters 16 and under must have a parent or legal guardian present and have their hunter education blue card to participate.
This year, as in past years, shooters may enter to shoot in the open sight OR the scope class, but not both. The distance to the targets is approximately 28-30 yards. Shooters will have 10 shots in three different positions: prone, sitting, and standing. Prone will be from the shooting benches, instead of laying on the uneven ground. Prizes will be awarded for1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in all age categories.
We highly recommend that participants pre-register before the event, though you may register the day of prior to 10 a.m. If you have any questions, please let us know.
