Hotel Vernal Haunt 2018 and What Will Come in 2019

The goal for the Hotel Vernal Haunt was to have fun, bring people downtown, connect the community, create a safe place for teens and others to celebrate the season and raise funds for local charities. For the 2018 Haunt, 63 businesses provided donations or in-kind services that contributed to the Haunt. There was an average of 80 volunteers a night to run the experience with over 260 volunteers who were involved in design, construction, make-up, acting, security, and organization during and before the haunt. Over the 10 nights in October, 6,000 guests experienced the Haunt. 1400 guests did the Ghost Tours. An average night had 600 guests, the highest night had 903 guests. $48,000 dollars was distributed to four local charities. After a very successful first year of the Hotel Vernal Haunt, the committee is mixing a few things up for 2019. There will be new themed rooms with upgrades to the existing ones. In addition, there will be a second adventure this year, a haunted escape room. This year’s four benefactors are Rotary Club’s literacy program, Uintah County Search and Rescue, Drug Court and Charitable Friends of Ashley Valley. It should be another fun year with screams, fun and volunteerism.
