The Department of Workforce Services reports that Utah’s nonfarm payroll employment
for August 2023 increased an estimated 2.5% over the last year, with the state’s economy
adding a cumulative 41,400 jobs since August 2022. Utah’s current job count stands at
1,725,100. In Daggett County, employment came in at 512 which is barely down from
one year ago at 514. In Duchesne County, employment came in at 8,449 which is up from
8,159 one year ago. In Uintah County, employment came in at 14,131 which is up from
13,640 one year ago. “The Utah economy remains strong and viable. Anyone who desires
to work should find employment,” shares DWS Chief Economist Mark Knold. “The job
market is still attractive….The level of job postings has slowed, but it is still higher than
Utah’s historically-normal job-posting level.”
