The Department of Workforce Services has released new employment data. Employment for July 2022 showed a 3.5 percent increase in employment since July 2021. That’s an addition of 56,600 jobs for a current job count of 1,664,300. Employment numbers for Daggett County came to 506; Duchesne County reported 8,119; and Uintah County reported 13,107. “High inflation and now two consecutive quarters of declining national GDP would normally be accompanied by lowering job counts,” shares DWS Chief Economist Mark Knold. “But neither is the case at both the national and state levels where job growth was aggressive in July.” An updated unemployment report is expected later this week.
