Utah’s nonfarm payroll employment for January 2024 increased an estimated 1.9 percent over the last year, with the state’s economy adding a cumulative 32,100 jobs since January 2023. The state’s current job count stands at 1,720,900. Employment in Daggett County is 316 which is up 2.3 percent from one year ago. Employment in Duchesne County is 8,797 which is up 4.3 percent from one year ago and Uintah County is 14,255 which is up 6 percent from one year ago. “Utah begins the year with continued job growth, but at a more reserved pace than seen over the past several years,” shares Mark Knold, Chief Economist at the Department of Workforce Services. “The economy is still creating new jobs, illustrated by the over 32,000 recorded across the past year.” Unemployment numbers by county will be released sometime this week.
