The most recent data from the Department of Workforce Services reports that the state’s economy has added a cumulative 40,300 jobs since August 2023 and Utah’s current job count stands at 1,760,800. Data by county reports Daggett County employment at 529, Duchesne County at 8,937 and Uintah County at 15,413. “The labor market in Utah continues to expand at a healthy rate, even as the unemployment rate has ticked up,” shares Ben Crabb, Chief Economist with the Utah Department of Workforce Services. August’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate is estimated at 3.3% with approximately 59,700 Utahns unemployed. That’s up from 3.2% the month before. Unemployment by county is Daggett County at 4.6%, Duchesne County is at 3.9 %, and Uintah County at 4%. The August national unemployment rate measures at 4.2%.
