The East Fork Emergency Watershed Protection project in Duchesne County reached its completion and now just has minor work that needs done. The East Fork EWP project worked to address issues caused by the 2020 East Fork Fire burn scar. The Natural Resources Conservation Service awarded funding for the project as part of the federal Emergency Watershed Protection (EWP) program. Damage from major flooding caused by the burn scar was a primary issue needing addressed. Damage was done in both the Moon Lake and Rock Creek drainages. Emergency Management Director Mike Lefler reported to the Duchesne County Commissioners last month that he is now working on a regional mitigation plan which is updated every four years.
