Moffat County has been in discussion over what to do with the homeless problem they face and the need for an emergency winter shelter. The Craig Press reports that Housing First Alliance of Craig has turned to Homeward Bound Grand Valley to present a possible solution to both problems. As of right now Craig lacks the resources to help the homeless population and the closest shelter is 150 miles away. The joint efforts have drafted a Letter of Intent with the Emergency Solutions Grant Program in hopes to use the old CAPS building and the old mining building as shelters. The emergency homeless shelter would be a low barrier emergency night shelter. That means the intake would start at 5pm, dinner would be served between 5:30pm and 6pm, and guests would need to check out at 8am, with everything being free. The shelters would start off available for just single men and single women.
