A wildfire in Colorado’s Rio Blanco County has led to the Department of the Interior declaring an Emergency Area Closure on public lands in the affected area. The announcement states, “In order to protect persons, property, and public lands and resources the following public land managed by the Bureau of Land Management are closed to all public use in support of the Tschuddi Fire: BLM managed lands in Rio Blanco County, Colorado: Public lands North of Rio Blanco County Roads 142 and 143 intersection, East of Horse Ridge, South of Colorow Mountain and West of Hidden Valley. This includes the Colorow Mountain State Wildlife Areas.” The announcement states that the closure will remain in effect until the area is cleared of emergency activities providing for safe public access.
