The next Uintah Basin Community Matters Conference will have some famous and powerful speakers. This is a free event for residents of the TriCounty area held at the Union High School Auditorium. Elizabeth Smart will be the keynote speaker for the upcoming conference in November. For many, Smart is a household name as the survivor of a highly publicized kidnapping in Utah when she was just a child. The event announcement emphasizes that Smart’s abduction and recovery continues to motivate parents, law enforcement and leaders worldwide to focus on children’s safety. She emphasizes vigilance by “everyday” people and the belief that hope always exists to find every missing child. She is the author of ‘My Story’ and ‘Where There’s Hope’. The Conference will also include a presentation by Cole Parkinson, the Director of Net Positive, focused on teaching students in Utah about digital wellness and safety. This event, taking place on November 8th at 6pm, is put on by Duchesne County School District, Northeastern Counseling, and TriCounty Health.
