Firefighter and public safety remain the top priority as crews battle the Elizabeth Ridge Fire which is burning west of Fish Lake in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. According to the Tuesday update, the fire was mapped at 105 acres due to more accurate mapping and it is 10 percent contained. 45 firefighters are on site and working hard to contain the fire. This includes hand crews, engine crews, and helicopters from the State of Utah, Forest Service, and contractors. Despite recent strong winds, the fire remains within containment lines. The National Weather Service predicts precipitation and cooler temperatures throughout the week which is expected to help containment. Road and area closures are still in place for safety. The Elizabeth Ridge Fire is burning in heavy timber east of Elizabeth Pass, adjacent to the North Slope Road (Forest Service Road 058).
