The annual Education Summit was a success this weekend at the Uintah Conference Center. In its 3rd year, the event is offered through the Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with local school districts and provides free licensing credits to local educators. According to Chamber Director Joel Brown, about 200 educators attended. “It provided about $40,000 dollars in savings to our teachers by allowing them to get their re-licensure credits here in the Basin,” shares Brown. The keynote speaker for the event was Christian Moore who talked about “The Core Principles of Resilience” and helping students and all people to use problems in their lives to overcome and achieve in a positive way. Moore shared experiences from his own life as an example of one who has overcome many setbacks in school and growing up. Moore taught about the Four Sources of Resilience: Rational Resilience, Street Resilience, Resource Resilience, and Rock Bottom Resilience.
