February is Bald Eagle Month in Utah and the Division of Wildlife Resources is
encouraging all to keep an eye out for these majestic birds. During the winter months, the
bald eagle flies to Utah to get away from the colder northern conditions and find food. By
February, hundreds of eagles are in the state boundaries. A great place to spot a bald
eagle in northeast Utah is the Ouray National Wildlife Refuge located in Uintah County.
If you’re driving and looking for eagles, please do so safely. Don’t drive distracted, and
don’t stop in the middle of the road if you see an eagle. Instead, pull completely off the
road before viewing or taking pictures. Your safety, and the safety of other motorists,
comes first.
