E-Cigarette drop boxes are now installed at both TriCounty Health locations and the community is urged to use them for the proper disposal of all kinds of E-Cigarettes. Proper disposal is a serious safety matter, according to TriCounty Health’s Ben Muffler. While visiting the Evans Family Media studios, Muffler explained that the nicotine in the device poses a hazard if left laying around. Even coming in contact with the nicotine that can spill can make someone sick or cause a skin rash. The other very real hazard is the risk posed by the lithium ion battery that can combust and cause a fire. Muffler shared that there have been multiple fires over the last few years caused by E-Cigarettes buried at the dump after being thrown in the garbage for disposal. Now there is a safe and easy way to dispose of the E-Cigarettes at the health department drop boxes which are open 24 hours daily and are picked up by a professional company for proper disposal.
