DWR Tips for a Safe Archery Hunt

by | Aug 8, 2017 | News | 0 comments

Safety should be a top priority for hunters preparing for the upcoming archery hunt. The Division of Wildlife Resources reports that each year there are hunters that fall from trees or that jab themselves or other hunters while carrying arrows in their hands. It’s also possible that an arrow could fly without being certain of what’s behind the target. Some tips to mitigate risks include looking at a tree stand’s weight rating before placing it in a tree, never remove arrows from the quiver until it is time to shoot, and never take a shot at a deer or an elk that is beyond the maximum range you’re comfortable shooting. Also, before releasing the arrow, be sure of the target and what’s beyond it. For more information on a safe archery hunt, visit
