The Division of Wildlife Resources has a message for those interested in taking the state’s Hunter Education course. First, there is still time to sign up but don’t wait too long because classes fill up fast in the fall. If you want to be on the field on September 1st, taking the course online may be the way to go in order to complete it faster. “Also,” shares Hunter Education coordinator Gary Cook, “if you have a young child who’s taking the course, you can help them understand what they’re learning by sitting by their side and going through the course material with them. Your child can also take the course at his or her own speed.” If you don’t know much about hunting, however, taking the course in the classroom could be your best option. The classes are taught by volunteer instructors who are also experienced hunters. For either option, visit
