Public feedback is being sought by the Division of Wildlife Resources on proposed changes to Utah’s fishing rules. The recommendations focus on two main topics, spearfishing and amendments to private pond rules. With spearfishing, harvest limits on some species would be removed allowing spear anglers to help reduce problematic illegal fish in waterbodies. The amendments to private pond rules simplifies the language and emphasizes that it is illegal to release fish into other waterbodies, an act that can result in a class A misdemeanor. Public comment will be welcome during the Northeastern Utah RAC meeting at the DWR Vernal Office on September 7th at 6pm. Online comments must be submitted by August 30th. The online comments will be shared with the RAC and wildlife board members. Visit www.wildlife.utah.gov to learn more about the proposed changes.
