A man with a history of DUI is facing new Felony charges after being found in the Roosevelt Davis Food and Drug parking lot in his vehicle slumped over the wheel with his vehicle hazards on and window rolled down. Officers made contact with 62-year-old Sterling Ewell Taveapont and found that his speech was slurred and he couldn’t stop moving. He did not pass sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. A large bag of methamphetamine was found in his pocket and drug paraphernalia was found inside the vehicle. Taveapont is charged with 3rd Degree Felony DUI and Misdemeanor Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
