Halloween brings out the little ones into the streets like no other holiday, especially after
dark. Duchesne Volunteer Fire Department offers these following tips to keep our kids
safe: Consider using battery operated candles or glow sticks in jack-o-lanterns. When
selecting a costume, stay away from designs that have long trailing fabric. With
decorations, please note that dried flowers, cornstalks and crepe paper catch fire easily
and should be kept away from flames or heat sources like light bulbs. Make sure
decorations do not block exits or escape routes. Children should wear reflective tape,
have a flashlight or use glow sticks when it gets dark so drivers can see them. Twice as
many kids are killed while walking on Halloween than any other day of the year.
