A Welfare Check last week resulted in the arrest of a South Duchesne man. 60-year-old Garren Thomas Breach was arrested for the offenses of Kidnapping, Assault, Threat of Violence, Possession of a Controlled Subtance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, deputies were dispatched to a trailer in South Duchesne for a Welfare Check on November 6th and the owner, Garren Breach, came out. After multiple requests, a woman also came out of the trailer, moving as if she was in extreme pain. “When asked about what had happened, the victim claimed she had been beaten and that she had attempted to get away,” shared the deputy’s probable cause statement. “We removed her from speaking distance from the owner. She stated she had been in a consensual sexual relationship with the owner in the past. Upon her arrival to the trailer the owner took her cell phone separated the battery from the phone and then threw the phone into the brush. He forced her to take her clothes off so she could not escape. He kept her intentionally against her will inside his trailer for multiple days. She attempted to run multiple times, on foot screaming for help attempting to draw attention, at which point the owner would chase her, threatening her life by stating he would kill her and that she would not leave with her life and force her to the ground hitting her and shoving dirt into her face. He would then drag her back in a bear hug to his trailer. Throughout the 3-4 days the victim was with the owner he would hit her and tell her he would kill her with a rubber mallet. He placed her in hand cuffs and also placed a gag inside her mouth. He then hit her repeatedly in the body.” The probable cause statement also stated that when speaking with the deputy, Breach confirmed details of the victim’s account including throwing her phone in the bushes, taking her clothes, and detaining her though he denied hitting her. Breach was arrested and booked into Duchesne County Jail.
