Sexual assault allegations against a member of the Duchesne High School basketball team have surfaced publically this week and the Duchesne County School District Superintendent issued a statement in response. According to the KSL report announcing the allegations, the Cedar City Police confirmed that multiple players from the Duchesne team were investigated in connection with an alleged incident that was reported in Cedar City during the time of the 2A state basketball tournament at Southern Utah University in February. Duchesne Schools Superintendent Jason Young shared the following statement: “Upon being informed of allegations, school officials notified both the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office and DCFS of what had been reported. School officials also took immediate protective measures to ensure the safety of students. Parents were notified and included in the safety plan. We continue to cooperate with the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office as they cooperate with the Cedar City Police Department with their ongoing investigation.”
