The Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office has a warning for all who use social media as people continue to be victims of scammers. “As technology enhances so do these deceitful individuals,” shares the Sheriff’s Office. “Social media is a prime playing ground for these criminals…If you suspect a Facebook account is fake, review their profile…If you’re suspicious, block the request…and report them to Facebook. There is a lot of fake and false information posted online. Everyone should take the appropriate steps to know how to recognize phishing and not fall privy to the bad guy’s agenda.” Learn how to report, block, and filter content. Report these con artists who are attempting to use technology to hurt others. Use the filters in place with each site to limit users and content you see on your newsfeed. Personalize your privacy settings. Limit other users and potential criminals from viewing your information. Pause before you post. Content that contains personal information or your whereabouts could pose a high safety risk.  Do not post any personal information about yourself or your family. Turn off geolocation. For the entire list of tips, visit the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.
