The Duchesne County man arrested after the early morning fatal shooting of his friend last week in the Myton area has been formally charged in 8th District Court. 46-year-old Keith Nelson Broadwater was officially charged with Murder and Misdemeanor Carrying a Dangerous Weapon (while) Under the Influence of Alcohol. Judge Samuel Chiara was assigned to the case and found that “the charges are for a first degree felony. There is substantial evidence to support the charge,” states the court record. It continues that “the court finds by clear and convincing evidence that the individual would constitute a substantial danger to any other individual or to the community, or is likely to flee the jurisdiction of the court, if released on bail.” As a result, bail was not granted. Broadwater made his initial appearance in 8th District Court this week and was advised of the charges against him and the penalties. The appearance was held virtually while Broadwater remained in custody at the Duchesne County Jail.
