A double oversized load transport required extra help on Tuesday afternoon as it made its way across the Uintah Basin. Utah Highway Patrol was able to share some information about the transport. First, the cargo was a pair of generators thats height was taller than the traffic lights and therefore required special maneuvering. Second, the 3rd party transport company reported that the load started in Manila and ended about 8 miles past Roosevelt. And third, that there will be more transports like this in the coming months. The extra help was required when traveling through cities. Traffic was shut down at the intersection of Vernal Avenue and Highway 40 and for about a block radius as the massive generators approached. Making the right hand turn from Vernal Avenue onto Highway 40 was a complicated maneuver. Once facing west on Highway 40, the entire operation traveled pretty quickly but required police to go ahead and clear intersections in order for the semis to weave around the traffic lights. A representative from Rocky Mountain Power was also on hand with equipment to hold the power lines up where necessary.
