Hilarious is the word most often being used to describe the chaotic fun that is ‘The 39 Steps’ now showing at Vernal Theatre: Live but imagine for a moment what it would be like to be in such a production. “You may think I’m joking but I am legit nervous that this show has ruined me for all other shows,” shares cast member Andrew Bentley. “This show has such a freedom to play around that I haven’t ever found in any other show and doubt I will ever see again.” Bentley is teamed up in the show with David Gale and the duo help the story of Richard Hannay, played by Kevin Remington, move rapidly and hilariously along. To get the idea of the pace and energy, the cast of four plays over 150 characters in the whodunit tale. “To be able to have that freedom alongside David Gale is a true dream,” says Bentley. “David is so funny in all of the ways that I am not. It’s both inspiring and wonderful to be able to work with someone so talented and funny. I never thought I could fit in back in the Vaudeville days but with Dave, I think we could make a go of it.” There are three shows left this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday of closing weekend.
