Uintah Middle School is asking the community to please go through their closets and make a donation to their shoe drive wrapping up this week. Students were motivated by Brian Williams, the founder of the ‘Think Kindness’ non-profit, who put on a high-energy assembly that encouraged the students to do acts of kindness every day. The students have a goal of collecting 8,000 pairs of gently used shoes to donate to families in need in Africa. “Everyone in the Basin is invited to be a part of this massive act of kindness,” shares UMS 8th Grade Student Council Advisor Jessica Blunt. “Get your clubs, councils and social circles together. If we collected one pair of shoes from half the homes in Vernal, we would exceed the goal.” Donations can be dropped off during school hours at Uintah Middle School and Ashley Elementary School. A collection box is also available in the district office lobby during business hours.
