Positive news keeps coming as the Dollar Ridge Fire was hit with a wetting rain over the entire fire area on Thursday. According to Utah Fire Info, the rains and cooler temperatures have resulted in a visible reduction in smoke and fire behavior. Crews continue to remove excess vegetation and air resources are pre-treating areas with retardant that reduces the flammability of the vegetation. Crews also continue to patrol and mop up areas along the containment lines. Efforts are ongoing from the community to support the victims of the fire including a food drive during the Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo throughout the weekend. Non-perishable food items can be dropped off at the Eagle Country tent at Western Park. Davis Food and Drug in both Roosevelt and Vernal will match every item donated. The donated food will then be delivered to the Duchesne County Food Pantry where it will go to families affected by the fire.
