The Vernal Chamber of Commerce recently was visited by candidate for Congressional District #1 Kerry Gibson. Gibson decided to run when Rob Bishop called him up to tell him he wasn’t running again and that he wanted Gibson to run because of his background and knowledge making him a good fit. Kerry Gibson was born and raised in Weber County. He has deep seeded roots to the state having owned and operated a fifth-generation dairy farm with his father and brother. His political service to Utah includes serving as a state legislator, Weber County Commissioner and most recently as the Commissioner of the Utah Department of Agriculture. He has a proven track record of being involved in supporting agriculture and happened to be awarded the Top Young Farmer by the American Farm Bureau Federation. Kerry believes in the free enterprise system, less government intrusion, is pro-life, strongly supports the 2nd Amendment and knows that hardworking citizens need to drive the economy. On his website it states “Kerry Gibson is running for Congress because his proven conservative record as a county commissioner, state legislator, and Utah Ag Commissioner makes him uniquely qualified to represent and fight for our Utah values in Washington DC.”
