2 weeks after a dispute led to one man starting another man’s wood pile and porch on fire, an arrest was made. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, police and the local fire department were dispatched to a home in Duchesne County on January 16th and arrived to find the homeowner trying to put out a fire on his woodpile and porch. The homeowner stated that Corbat Stubbs had previously been staying with him and during that time had borrowed firewood from him. Stubbs left and had been gone for a period of time but showed up again on January 16th to pick up some personal items. The homeowner reminded Stubbs that he owed him money for the firewood and a dispute ensued which included Stubbs leaving a substantial mark on the homeowner’s arm from biting him. Stubbs was asked to leave. The homeowner went inside the home and then heard a popping sound like fire and came out to find his woodpile and porch engulfed in flames as Stubbs drove away. Law enforcement was unable to locate Stubbs that night. Eventually law enforcement spoke with Stubbs and he confirmed that an altercation took place. He was asked to come in for an interview and then stopped responding to any attempts to contact him by investigators. Just over 2 weeks later, officers took 37-year-old Corbat Glenn Stubbs into custody. He is charged with 1st Degree Felony Aggravated Arson and Assault with Substantial Bodily Injury. His initial appearance in courts is scheduled for today.
