The Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo defied the odds this year and held a successful world class rodeo in July while similar events had been cancelled around the country. The Vernal Area Chamber reported last week that the Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo attracted World Champion Cowboys and attendees from all over the country. The rodeo was featured on the Cowboy Channel, broadcasting into 42 million homes. Reporting on the event, Mike Karren and Carson Young said the Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo Committee is already planning for next year’s rodeo on July 8, 9, 10, 2021. Despite the challenges presented the Committee not only made the rodeo happen but saw that an additional day was added to the event. According to the report, there were 824 entries and they had to cap and cut back. 730 contestants participated with 44 World Champions and 101 of the 120 NFR 2019 qualifiers in attendance. Contestants represented 30 states and 4 Canadian Provinces. Over 350 contestants participated on Saturday morning in the Basin Jr. Rodeo. Tickets were sold to persons from 28 states and 2 Canadian Provinces. Admissions increased each night with approximately 3500 attendees on Saturday night. GPS tracking showed over 10,000 people on the rodeo grounds during the event.
