Dinosaur National Monument has lifted their Stage 1 fire restrictions. According to the National Park Service announcement, the slightly cooler temperatures and recent rainfall has reduced the fire danger. “Monument visitors are reminded to still be cautious with fire as some areas may contain substantial amounts of dry vegetation,” shares the announcement. “Smoking should be done only in cleared areas. Extinguish all campfires with water and dirt until embers are cool to the touch. The use of fire by visitors in the monument is regulated to protect monument resources and visitors.” The rule is within developed areas, any open wood fires must be in monument-installed metal fire rings or grills. Campfires are only allowed within certain areas in the backcountry and along the river. For more information, visit
