Dinosaur National Monument is participating in a new education program that will bring 5th grade students to experience the great outdoors. According to Monument Chief of Visitor Services Dan Johnson, the grant from the Eccles Foundation supports the ‘Concrete to Canyons’ program in which students learn camping skills having to spend three days in the great outdoors. Locally, the 5th graders from Terra Academy are planning to participate this fall and a group from the Wasatch Front are also signed up. This is the first year that Dinosaur National Monument has received the grant and Monument officials are hoping to continue having the opportunity. Other Utah parks, like Zions, have had the opportunity for several years in a row.
