The Utah based developer of a hydropower site proposed outside of Craig has announced that they are moving forward with the $1.5 billion dollar project’s development. Steamboat Pilot & Today reports that the CEO of rPlus Energies LLC said Monday that with agreements finalized with Moffat County landowners, they can move forward with pre-feasibility design and engineering at the site. While there are pumped storage hydropower sites around the world, this would be the first new project since 1993. If the project makes it to development, it would include two reservoirs covering about 170 acres located 7 miles southeast of Craig. There are still hurdles left to clear in the permitting process but the company has made it clear they are pushing forward in pursuit.
