The Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office announced Sunday that crews have reached 100 percent containment on both the Deserado Fire and Harvest Fire. The Harvest Fire was reported on August 14th about 20 miles southwest of Meeker. Crews were making great progress on the Harvest Fire on August 16th holding it at 160 acres when a call came in for the Deserado Fire located 8 miles east of Rangely off Country Road 65. The White River Type 3 Incident Management Team assumed command of both fires. The Deserado Fire was held at 1,131 acres. Mop up efforts will continue this week.
