The state’s Department of Public Safety has announced a new Deputy Commissioner, someone many in the Uintah Basin know very well. Major Beau Mason is the new DPS Deputy Commissioner, the second of that position that was added to provide more leadership. DPS shares that Deputy Commissioner Mason has 19 years of experience within the ranks of DPS having had opportunities to serve in leadership capacities within the Utah Highway Patrol, most recently as a Major. His previous leadership roles include serving as the commander of Operation Rio Grande, as Commissioner Anderson’s Executive Officer, and as a captain, lieutenant, and sergeant in Uintah County, Duchesne County, Salt Lake County, and at POST in basic training. The announcement states that Mason is a proven leader within DPS, possessing a strong determination with a ‘can-do’ attitude.
