National Park Service has announced plans for demolition of the condemned Yampa District Multi-Operations building located in Dinosaur, Colorado that is part of the Dinosaur National Monument facilities. The nearly 11,000 square-foot building had to be condemned due to “shifting sub-surfaces and failures of supporting walls” that may have been caused by “a nearby temporal stream drainage.” A new nearly 12,000 square-foot building will be constructed after demolition though not in that exact location. It may be built east of the current building where solid rock formations can be anchored into. The new building will be a single story structure with an incident command center and training facilities. Work on this project, funded by NPS Line-Item Construction Program, is proposed to begin with demolition of the condemned building in April 2026, and potential completion of the new building in July 2027. National Park Service welcomes public comment on the proposed demolition and construction of a replacement building at parkplanning.nps.gov. Comments will be accepted July 17th through August 7th.
