A storm over the East Fork Fire burn scar in Duchesne County did some real damage over the weekend as debris flows impacted areas of the Ashley National Forest. The public is urged to avoid the Rock Creek drainage because the hillsides are unstable and Rock Creek Road could be fully closed at any point. Road closed signs have been posted as a precaution and the choice to travel is at the driver’s own risk. Due to debris flows impacting camping sites in Moon Lake Campground the Ashley National Forest has closed it immediately for the remainder of the season. “The debris flow and water have broken water lines and exposed electrical lines within the campground creating hazardous conditions for public use,” shares Forest officials. “It will take time to restore the camp sites impacted by debris flows and repair the electrical and water lines to restore services within the campground. Those with reservations should be notified through www.Recreation.Gov. If you have not received notification please reach out to them.” Group Camping Sites at Moon Lake will remain available through Labor Day Weekend.
