For those new to Utah, Pioneer Day is likely a new concept and a new holiday. The Daughters of Utah Pioneers in Uintah County are doing their part to provide a fun and educational event in honor of the holiday with their Dinosaurland Pioneer Day Celebration Free Family Event. Pioneer style activities start after the parade and run until 2pm at the DUP Museum next to the Vernal Utah Temple on 500 West. Each year they have old fashioned games, activities, and skill demonstrations. This year these include gold panning, rope making, quilt tying, pottery, fiber crafts, rag doll making, leatherworking, and blacksmithing. There will also be free tours of the museum. All are welcome to come learn more about the pioneers that settled Utah and northeastern Utah.
