Timed perfectly with the chance to see a comet visible from Earth every 400 years, Dinosaur National Monument will be holding multiple events this weekend over three days as part of the Dark Skies Over Dinosaur events. These events are done with DarkSky International, a group that restores the nighttime environment and protects communities from the harmful effects of light pollution through outreach, advocacy, and conservation. The first event is an introduction to Astrophotography with Paul Rickettes at the Uintah County Library at 5pm on Friday, September 15th. From 9pm to 10pm on that same day at Steinaker State Park will be stargazing with telescopes. On Saturday, September 16th at the Quarry Visitor Center there will be Sun Crafts and Safe Solar Viewing from 2:30 to 4:30pm. Then at Split Mountain Campground from 8:30 to 10:30pm there will be stargazing with telescopes. Finally, on Sunday, September 17th from 2:30 to 4:30pm there will be Sun Crafts and Safe Solar Viewing at the Canyon Visitor Center in Colorado.
