For many, the launch of summer is synonymous with getting out into nature and enjoying time on the mountain. Ashley National Forest welcomes visitors but has issued a firm reminder that all need to be respectful of the natural resources and the opportunities they provide. “We encourage visitors to travel responsibly, respect the rights of others, educate yourself, avoid sensitive areas, and do your part to keep our Forest beautiful for others following to enjoy,” shares the latest announcement. “Unfortunately, we have already experienced damage this year due to misuse of motorized vehicles, or activities such as individuals cutting live trees to create structures on the Forest. Not only is this a prohibited activity, but it degrades the experience for others. It can also create lasting damage to the landscape and years to heal.” The damage took place in the Yellowstone Canyon area in the Duchesne/Roosevelt Ranger District in which a large number of trees were cut to create structures and then left on the Forest. Images of the structure in question have been shared on the Ashley National Forest Facebook page.
