It has been a difficult few weeks for the Roosevelt community and beyond as Cpl. Cody Barton was laid to rest. What many may not know is that this devastating loss follows an already tragic time for the Barton family who had lost their home and all their belongings in a house fire on December 8th. At that time a GoFundMe campaign was started to help the family. Friends of the family are sharing that campaign once again as a place where those wanting to help the family can share a donation if they choose. As a member of the local LEO family, El Mathews is often involved in local efforts to support police and their families. She is also a close friend to Cpl. Barton’s wife Sarah. “This tragedy hurts us all,” shares Mathews. “Cody is, and will always be, part of our family. Though we may not be bonded by blood, we will always be bonded by the Thin Blue Line. Sarah and her family will always be a part of our Law Enforcement Family. We will always love her, look out for her, and support her. She and her family will never be alone in her journey. We will always stand beside her in solidarity. This is what it is to be part of a Law Enforcement Family. We will always remember Cody and We Will Never Forget!” Those interested in donating to the GoFundMe for the Barton family can link through this news story on BasinNow.com.
