TriCounty Health Department is keeping locals up to date on Coronavirus while coordinating with local entities. There are currently two confirmed and unrelated cases in Utah and no cases or suspect cases within the TriCounty area. Still, TriCounty Health urges all to wash hands regularly, avoid non-essential travel to impacted areas, avoid non-essential contact with those who are generally sick, and to disinfect objects and surfaces using household cleaning sprays or wipes. If you ARE sick, DO NOT go to work, school, church, or other social gatherings. Cover your cough and sneezes and wash hands regularly. Isolate yourself until all symptoms have stopped without assistance from medications. If your symptoms get worse, call 1-800-456-7707 before going to any clinic, urgent care, or hospital. TriCounty Health is working and meeting with community partners including Uintah School District as they work to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the event it reaches the Uintah Basin. The Uintah School District “is asking all parents/guardians to keep children home from school if they have a fever, a cough and/or shortness of breath. Please do not send your child back to school until they are fever-free without medication for at least 24 hours. Teachers and school staff should also stay home if they are experiencing these symptoms, and should not return to work until they are fever-free without medication for at least 24 hours…There is currently no vaccine or antiviral treatment available for coronavirus, and it is flu and respiratory disease season. Public health officials recommend getting vaccinated for influenza, and taking everyday preventive actions to stop the spread of germs.” The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints also made announcements Wednesday due to the threat of Coronavirus that will affect local membership. The church’s upcoming semi-annual conference will only be held virtually, other large gatherings are cancelled and missionaries scheduled to enter training centers in Utah or England will be trained remotely by video conference.
