The conviction of a Duchesne County man has been upheld by the Utah Court of Appeals. Keith Nelson Broadwater was found Guilty by a jury in 2022 of 1st Degree Felony Murder and 1st Degree Felony Discharge of a Firearm for the shooting death of his roommate in 2021. He was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison. Broadwater and the victim, Micah Cambridge, had been roommates for over a decade before the event on March 18th, 2021 in which Cambridge was shot and killed. Broadwater claimed he shot him in self defense but the jury did not believe him. Cambridge’s girlfriend was in the home at the time of the shooting and was among those that testified during the trial. She claimed that Cambridge did not do anything to attack Broadwater before being shot. The Utah Court of Appeals filed their decision on December 19th to reject Broadwater’s appeal. He is currently 2 years into his sentence.
