A bill sponsored by Representative Moore was included in the passage of the 2024 Fiscal Year National Defense Authorization Act which Moore says will strengthen America’s defense prowess and enhance U.S. dominance on a global stage. “I am particularly grateful that my bill, the Retain Skilled Vets Act, was included in the passed legislation,” shares Moore. “This bill repeals the 180-day rule for retiring servicemembers, increasing civilian employment opportunities for veterans and retaining institutional expertise in the DoD ecosystem. Congress should not create obstacles to veterans who want to transition to civil service, especially as our depots, arsenals, and shipyards struggle to keep up with competitive hiring environments.” Moore says the legislation was also a great win for Hill Air Force Base programs.
